Future Infrastructure Programs
The federal government is currently involved in a consultation process towards a Long-term Infrastructure Plan (LTIP) which will inform infrastructure programming after the 2014 expiry of the Building Canada Fund. The LTIP process will also be used to initiate discussions about the permanent Gas Tax Fund, which will replace the existing Gas Tax program when it expires in 2015.
In July, 2012, UBCM participated in a BC infrastructure roundtable, which brought stakeholders together for a strategic discussion about the LTIP and future infrastructure programming. Further staff level discussions amongst the federal and provincial governments and UBCM are continuing. In order to prepare itself for these discussions, UBCM conducted a survey of its members to seek their perspectives on future infrastructure programs.
