Strategic Wildfire Prevention
Applications are currently being accepted.
The Strategic Wildfire Prevention Initiative is a suite of funding programs administered by UBCM and managed through the Strategic Wildfire Prevention Working Group. Since 2004, the initiative has supported communities to mitigate risk from wildfire in the wildland urban interface.
Submit an Application
Applications for fuel management prescriptions, operational treatments and maintenance, and demonstration projects are accepted on an on-going basis.
Please note: As of July 6, 2016, applications for Community Wildfire Protection Plans and updates are not being accepted. A revised CWPP program will be launched later this year and applications under this program stream will resume at that time.
Funding permitting, funding decisions will be made three times in 2016:
- February 2016 – for all eligible applications submitted by January 29, 2016
- May 2016 – for all eligible applications submitted by April 29, 2016
- October 2016 – for all eligible applications submitted by October 7, 2016

Submit a Final Report
To submit a final report, please refer to the SWPI program based on the year the application was submitted.
